Meet our Team
Dr. Julie Sowa
DVM, CVMA, CVSMT, CCRP
Dr. Sowa is a Washington State native. After graduation from the University of Washington she attended Colorado State University where she earned her doctorate degree in veterinary medicine and surgery. She later obtained additional certifications in veterinary acupuncture, veterinary chiropractic and canine rehabilitation. Dr. Sowa started Pawlouse Vet Rehab in order to help improve the lives of pets using non-invasive treatment modalities. In her free time she enjoys riding horses, traveling, spending time out of doors and being with her family.
Kayla Murfin
LVT, CSCC
Kayla was born and raised in Spokane, and anyone that has ever known her will tell you that she is an animal lover. From the time that she could talk, a career in veterinary medicine was in her future. Kayla entered the veterinary field in 2014, obtained her degree in Veterinary Nursing and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2019, and hasn't looked back since. She shares her life with her husband Steven, and shares her free time with two dogs lovingly called her "pack". These dogs introduced her to the world of competitive dog sports and created Kayla's passion for canine fitness and conditioning. This passion keeps growing allowing Kayla to obtain her Certified Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCC) advanced certification in 2023. Kayla has been a member of the Pawlouse Vet Rehab team since late 2022, and she can't wait to help you meet your pet's fitness goals.
Katie Halonen
Veterinary Rehabilitation Assistant
Katie has lived in Spokane her entire life. Growing up she has always had a love for animals and when she finally reached the age to care for her own pet, she got a German Shepherd who enjoys being active and going for long car rides. Katie shares her life with her husband Connor and their pup Koda. Some of Katie's favorite things to do outside of work include shopping, traveling and skiing in the winter time. She became a member of the Pawlouse Vet Rehab team in August of 2021 and she has enjoyed learning and growing as an assistant. Her favorite part about working here is watching the progress and recovery of each pet that comes our way! Katie cannot wait to meet you and help care for your pets!
Lexi Johnson
Veterinary Rehabilitaion Assistant
Lexi has joined the Veterinary field to utilize her instinctive relationship skills with cats and dogs. Aside from reading 'Arfirmations', she spends time with her husband, step-daughter, and Labrador/Collie mix Morgan, exploring different Washington State Forests for new trees to spread their scents. Her favorite spot that she has found is Cape Disappointment, discovering euphoria in watching her family and Morgan play on the beach of the vast Pacific Ocean. For Lexi, having the pleasure of caring for furry patients makes each day pawsitively 'meow'velous!
Trina Malm

After a few years of traveling over the mountains to visit family, her and her husband Terry decided to move their family over to Coeur d'Alene. She has a background in medical offices from Chiropractic to physical therapy. She has worked in clinics for over 20 years. Trina's family will tell you that she has always had a special connection with animals since she was very little and has always found herself caring for all sorts from pets, strays, lost, and even wildlife. Now she is still doing the same. Since moving over here she has found herself caring not just her own pets but has taken care of and homed several cats and kittens that just found her for help. She also feeds all the wildlife around her home and has several that come for their daily visits and feedings. Her love for all of them grows every day. She loves to spend her spare time with all of them and with her husband and family who shares her love of the outdoors. Trina also has a hobby of photography of the outdoors and animals.
